Beautiful area, although I always get rained on when I visit! Will have to come back someday when it isn't so rainy.
Definitely a five star place! Lamoille Canyon in the Ruby Mountain Range has everything an outdoor enthusiast wants. There are high mountains, alpine lakes, mountain streams, wildlife, wildflowers, and backcountry trails. I think of Lamoille Canyon as heaven on earth.
One of the most beautiful places I've ever driven through. Photos and videos don't do it justice. Lots of hiking opportunities, too.
Great for all types of hikes from day hikes to backpacking! Even the nature trails are amazing. Easy access to the trails. Beautiful waterfalls everywhere. We went in July while the snow was melted - cannot be fully accessed all year.
What a fine example of collaborative stewardship of a natural treasure...a peek into the Rubies. The gorgeous, 12 mile access road has scads of easy turnouts to see this glaciated valley safely. The trails are moderate and impeccably maintained. No camping other than a crowded campground or an Alpine backpack. I will be back for the 40 mile Ruby Crest trail.
